Medical conference in Berlin
Consecutive interpreting
Consecutive interpreting is suitable for formal meetings with multiple participants, training courses, official speeches and conferences where there is no simultaneous interpretation facility.
The speaker stops at regular intervals of a few minutes in order to allow the interpreter to translate his or her contribution to the public. The interpreter is able to report the speech with great precision using a special technique for taking notes.
Simultaneous interpreting
Simultaneous interpreting is performed during conferences and congresses in the presence of an audience, and requires an audio system and cabins. The interpreter works together with a colleague and translates simultaneously the words of the speakers. The two interpreters take turns of 20-30 minutes.
For guided tours with a few participants in places where it is not possible to install booths (e.g. industrial plants), the interpreter translates by means of a mobile radio microphone. In both cases, the public listens to the translation via headset receivers.
Liaison interpreting
Liaison interpreting is suitable for private meetings with a very small number of participants, such as business negotiations of various kinds, court hearings and interviews. The participants speak in turn and the interpreter translates orally the content of the individual contributions, allowing the flow of communication.
